James R. "Jim" Davis, 95
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - James R. "Jim" Davis of Chestertown, Md. died on May 18, 2007, at Chester River Hospital Center. He was 95.
Born in Delmar, Del. on Feb. 6, 1912, he was the son of the late John James and Effie Lee Adkins Davis.
Mr. Davis began work at an early age on the family"s farm.
On June 20, 1931, he married Geneva Katherine Funds. They lived in Laurel where he worked as a truck driver, delivering vegetables up and down the East Coast during the Depression.
He and his wife moved to Chester, Pa. where they resided for 30 years.
Mr. Davis worked as an electrician with Eddystone Printwork, Sunship Building and Globe Union (now Johnson and Johnson Controls) from which he retired in 1974.
He and his wife moved to Middletown and then Tolchester, Md.
He was a member of the Tolchester Community Association, St. Paul"s Episcopal Church, Rock Hall Senior Citizens, and was a past member of the St. Andrew"s Society.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Geneva on Feb. 25, 1996; and a son, the late George R. Davis in 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, H. Joanne Maiero of Wyomissing, Pa. and Elaine K. Pierdomenico of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul"s Episcopal Church, Kent. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, Md.
Internment will be in St. Paul"s Cemetery.
