HARTLY - James Kline Jarman, died Feb. 21, 2024. Kline was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Dover, DE, son of the late Ward and Clara Bostic Jarman.
He served in the U.S. Army and worked for Jarman Garage, Buchanan Service/Firestone, and General Foods/Kraft where he retired in 1990.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. When the grandchildren were young, he and his wife Edith could be found at most of their home games of softball, basketball, hockey, and at the race track to watch grandson race go carts and micros. He enjoyed working in his shop and often made projects of wood for his family. He also fixed lawn mowers for family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that asked.
Kline was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; four sisters, Dorcus Pete, Betty Newman Heinold, Edith Rash, and Mrytle McClements; five brothers, Thomas Nobel, Clinton, William, Walter, and Bernard.
Kline is survived by two daughters, Beverly Smith and her husband Bruce, Connie Gingerich and her husband David; one son, Alan Jarman; and special friend, Bonnie all of Hartly; seven grandchildren, Michelle Bundek (Richard), Jessi Thompson (Adam), Wendy Carpenter (Kenny), Susie Hobbs (Adam), Amanda Gosch, Samantha Jarman (Brad), Davey Gingerich (Erica); nine great grandchildren; caregivers, Angela Gibson and Pascal Richards.
Services will be 1 PM, Friday, March 1, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Family and friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM. Interment will be at Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover.
In lieu of flowers family suggestions contributions to Hartly United Methodist Church, Hartly, DE.
