GEORGETOWN - James Bronson Elmore of Georgetown, formerly of Baltimore, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 88.
Mr. Elmore was born in Ritch Patch, Va., son of the late Perry William and Bessie F. Duncan Elmore.
He was a supervisor/welder for Airco Welding for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Elmore was also a greeter for Wal-Mart in Georgetown.
He moved to Delaware from Baltimore in 1991.
Mr. Elmore was a member of Hiss United Methodist Church and Industrial Management Club, both in Baltimore, and American Legion in Parkville, Md.
He enjoyed hunting and traveling and had been to all 50 states and Canada.
Mrs. Elmore was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1944-1946 and honorably discharged as seaman 1st class.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elmore is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Wheelbarger Elmore, in 1994; a brother, Lawrence Elmore; and two sisters, Elsie Landis and Margaret Thomas.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Renee Fowler and husband, Donald of Parkville; a son, Robert James Elmore and wife, Angeline of Arizona; five grandchildren, Dena Marie Fowler, Simon Elmore and wife, Amy, Asialine Smith and husband, Davis, Emerald Elmore and Shalyna Crandel and husband, David; five great-grandchildren, Payson Elmore, Kibson Elmore, Bethany Elmore, Savannah Smith and McKenna Smith; and a dear friend, Val Armbruster of Georgetown.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the Lemmon Funeral Home, 10 W. Padonia Road, Timonium, Md., where friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Burial will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, Md.
The family will also receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Easter Seals, 22317 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
