James A. Jones

Harrington - James A. Jones passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Cadia Capitol Rehab Center of Dover. Mr. Jones was born in Felton to the late, Joseph Jones and Anna Wooters Kane.
Mr. Jones served his country proudly for four years, as a United States Marine, and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
By trade, Mr. Jones was a mechanic. He worked for George & Lynch for many years and eventually retired from there. After his retirement, he went to work for Guardia riding in their armored trucks.
Mr. Jones was known as a tinkerer. He loved to build things out of nothing and could make anything mechanical work like new. Until just a few years ago, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. In his younger years, he also enjoyed salt water fishing as well. Mr. Jones also enjoyed sport shooting and enjoyed shooting a round or two of sporting clays, and was a lifelong member of the NRA. In recent years, he shared a special loving bond with his cat, Boots. He will be remembered as a wonderful father and loving husband, who took great care of his wife for over 64 years, and to this day acted like teenagers who first fell in love.
Mr. Jones is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Jones; children and their spouses, Bob (Donna) Jones Cline, Sandy (Larry) Zuchelli, Donald (Mary Etta) Jones, Stanley "Butch" Wayne Jones, Cheryll (Donald) Phillips Wesoja; 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 1 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
