Jackie "Jack" Farley, 65

FREDERICA - Jackie "Jack" Farley of Frederica died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at his home. He was 65.

Mr. Farley was born Nov. 10, 1941, in McCarr, Ky., to Ethel M. (Fields) Farley and the late Jack Farley.

Mr. Farley served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-63.

He retired in 2006 after 14 years of service from for the state of Delaware where he worked at the Stokely Center in the building maintenance department.

Prior to working for the state, Mr. Farley worked for 15 years at Wesley College as a superintendent of maintenance.

Mr. Farley was a member of the Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Dover.

He was a coach for Dover Little League for 10 years, and enjoyed woodworking, bowling and being with his family and friends.

Mr. Farley is survived by his mother, Ethel M. Farley of McCarr; his wife, Shirley Baumgartner Farley of Frederica; his stepson, Jason Baumgartner and his wife Gina of Magnolia; two stepdaughters, Robin Purcell and her husband Glenn of Douglasville, Ga., and Susan Roboski of Port Allegany, Pa.; his brother, Bill Farley and his wife Alexandra of Newport News, Va.; three sisters, Anna Mae Christianson of McCarr, Shirley Hurst and her husband Dave of Pataskala, Ohio, and Dinah Bevins of McCarr; two grandchildren, Corban Baumgartner and Connor Purcell; and a special niece, Melissa Holland and her husband Dudley, and their children, Quinn and Leon, all of Magnolia; a special friend, Marni McAllister of Bermuda; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be noon Friday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be 2 p.m. Friday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the "Building Fund Challenge" at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 1160 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901; or Vitas Charitable Funds, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
