Irwin James Heavlow

Irwin James Heavlow, 98

GALENA, Md. - Irwin James Heavlow, of Galena, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in the Chester River Hospital Center. He was 98.

Mr. Heavlow was born in Maryland, the son of the late Irwin James and Anne Biddle Heavlow.

Mr. Heavlow was the Owner Operator of Heavlow and Son Trucking Co. in Galena from 1956 until his retirement in the mid-1980s.

Mr. Heavlow enjoyed working during his retirement with his sons at Jim"s Marine, Galena.

He enjoyed listening and watching the Orioles and loved watching his grandchildren race at Nicholson Speedway.

Mr. Heavlow was a pilot for many years beginning in the early 1920s, flying a Curtiss- Wright Pusher.

He loved the excitement and the change in life that came with flying.

Mr. Heavlow is preceded in death by his wife, Irene S. Heavlow, in 1995.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Lee, Wayne George and James Laurence Heavlow; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Heavlow, Victor Heavlow, Jimmy Hevlow, Jacob Heavlow and Jaime Heavlow, all of Galena.

Services were private in Galena Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21203-7025.

Arrangements by the Fellows Helfenbein Newnam Funeral Home, Millington.
