LEWES - Irene Gooner Hazzard went home to be with her Lord on May 29, 2017. She was born in Angola, on October 11, 1922, first child of Harry and Nellie Burton Hazzard. The family moved to Lewes one year later where Irene was raised and graduated in 1940 from Lewes High School. She later went on to graduate in 1986 from the University of Delaware with her Associate Degree in the Arts. She was a registered medical lab technician with Beebe Hospital during the year of 1962, and from 1978 to 1996. She also was a tech at the Stockley Center from 1963 to 1982.
