GEORGETOWN - Howard Wellington Bramhall, Jr., son of the late Honorable Howard W. Bramhall, Sr., Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court, and Margaret Townsend Bramhall of Georgetown, passed away at his home in Linville, N.C. on Dec. 29, 2013 surrounded by his wife and family after a lengthy illness. After graduating from Georgetown High School, where he excelled as a member on the All State track team his senior year, Howard chose to follow in his uncle's footsteps and entered the apprenticeship program of the Delaware River Pilots Association. He became a licensed pilot 4 years later and captained vessels along the river for the next 36 years. Upon retirement he moved his family to Hollywood, Fla. and continued to enjoy a life of travel, fishing and playing tennis. One of his favorite tennis partners was the late Bert Parks. Howard continued to play tennis into his 80's. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Robert and sister Marjorie. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; four children, Beverly, Howard III, Robin, and David; and ten grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, George A. Bramhall Sr., of Seaford, and Eben Bramhall, of Newark. A few years ago Howard and Roberta purchased a home in the North Carolina mountain town of Linville. He became an active member of the Banner Elk Christian Fellowship where services will be conducted in Spring 2014 with Pastor Carl Clawson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is serving the family.
