MAGNOLIA, DE - Howard J. Belanger (Butch) passed away at his home on December 1, 2023, with his family by his side.
Howard grew up in Toledo, OH before joining the service. Howard joined the Air Force and met his wife, Kiyo on Okinawa. He retired after tours of duty in Japan, Okinawa, Vietnam, and several bases in the US. After he retired from the Airforce, he worked at Scott Paper. He was a humorous man who always had a good joke, a house full of friends and enjoyed many things. He loved his grandsons and would take them fishing or play games with them. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, old movies, collectibles and always had the latest technology.
Howard was married for 63 years to Kiyo who passed away last year. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Naomi Belanger of Toledo, OH; his beloved aunt, Marilyn; and his son-in-law, John Risner.
He is survived by his children, Joe Belanger of Magnolia, Tina Risner of Dover and Linda and Glenn Deaton of Ocean City, MD; his grandchildren, Chris Kimber of Dover DE, Robert and Sarah Deaton of San Francisco, CA, and Mike Deaton of Ocean City, MD; his great granddaughter, Reina Deaton; his nieces, Beverly Rose and Karen Tucker of Toledo OH; and very special people to him, Lena Belanger, Sonny Hampton and Marleen Powell.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Monday, December 18, 2023, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
