Herman Smith Horton, 61

LAUREL - Herman Smith Horton of Laurel died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 61.

Mr. Horton was born in Welch, W.Va., son of the late Sadie L. Nester and Henry Horton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Horton was a self-employed welder before retiring.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Horton; and a sister, Shelia Rush.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol (Purse) Horton of Laurel; a son and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Melissa Horton of Limerick, Pa.; a daughter, Christine White of Lake Monroe, Fla.; a sister and a brother-in-law, Amber and Russell Ball of Shenandoah, Va.; and four grandchildren, Mirriah, Shauna, Kody and Breanna.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier.

The Rev. Richard J. Bridge will officiate.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
