HARTLY - Herman Leroy Patterson, 76, of Hartly, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010, at his home with family. He was born on April 22, 1934, in Dover, to the late Charles and Gertrude Biddle Patterson. He was a life member of VFW and the American Legion. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Herman was a truck driver and owned and operated Midway Pallets for over 30 years. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR, country music, playing cards, collecting Volkswagens and farm tractors, and sitting on his front porch drinking ice tea watching traffic. Herman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fannie Patterson, of Hartly; son and his wife, Phillip and Margarete Patterson, of Hartly; daughter and her husband, Tempie Patterson Starkey and J. Michael Starkey, of Millington; sister, Mary Henderson, of Dover; granddaughter, Wendy Patterson; and grandson, Scott Klecan. Remembrance Services will be held Friday, August 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home in Dover. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
