Herman Joseph Knussman, 89
DENTON, Md. - Mr. Herman Joseph Knussman, 89, of Denton, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. Mr. Knussman was born in Ridgely on August 3, 1920 to the late George and Theresa Kirsch Knussman. He worked as a mechanic for the Caroline County Roads Board retiring in 1982 after 30 years of service. He served his country as a U.S. Army soldier for 3 1/2years with Company C, 799th Military Police Battalion during WWII, earning the rank of Sergeant. He was a life member of the American Legion Caroline Post#29, Denton and the St. Benedict/St. Elizabeth Catholic Parish. He loved to hunt, crab and always had a beautiful garden. He was a loving and patient husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by two sons, H. Kevin Knussman and wife Kim of Easton, and Francis J. Knussman and wife Adrienne of Greensboro; and four granddaughters, Paige, Hope, Erin, and Emily. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva L. Knussman in 2008; and one brother, Joseph A. Knussman. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W Sunset Ave., Greensboro. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 1st Street, Denton. Interment will be in Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock.
