MILFORD - Herman "Steve" Brockett Jr. of Milford died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was 49.
Mr. Brockett was born Aug. 24, 1957, in Elizabeth City, N.C., son of the late Herman E. Brockett Sr. and Hattie (Sutton) Brockett.
He attended school in the Milford School District.
Mr. Brockett took excellent care of his mother when her health began to fail. He was very close to his family.
He enjoyed outings with his daughter, Kyanna, going fishing with his buddy, Aaron and spending time with his brother, Ronnie. He could be seen at church with his sister, Jean, for special services. He was unable to work due to his illness. He fought a courageous battle for a long time.
Mr. Brockett accepted Christ as his personal Savior and attended Mount Enon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman E. Brockett, Sr. and his only brother-in-law, Howard Griffin Sr.
He is survived by a daughter, Kyanna Davis and her fiancé, Beto Deleon; a sister, Jean Griffin; a brother, Ronald Brockett and friend, Carolyn Anderson; an uncle; four aunts; three nieces; three nephews; and a host of relatives and many close friends.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Enon Baptist Church, Milford.
