BETHANY BEACH - Herbert L. Murray of Bethany Beach passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007, in the Harbor Health Care Rehabilitation Unit in Lewes. He was 78.
He was born in Ocean View on Dec. 21, 1928, son of the late, Orlando and Katie (Daisey) Murray and was the last survivor of their eight children.
Herbert was a retired poultry and hatchery manager for the former Murray's Hatchery and Cargill Inc. for 45 years.
He was a member of Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View and former member of the board of directors at Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown. He was an avid golfer, boatman and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Glenn L. Murray, in 1997; and seven siblings, Lloyd Murray, William R. Murray, Edwin Murray, Mary Long, Kathryn Button, David Murray and Linda Long.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Lou (Evans) Murray; and daughter, Robbin Murray of Annapolis, Md.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Avenue in Ocean View, where friends may call after 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.
The family's wishes are that expressions of sympathy may be made as a donation in Mr. Murray's memory to Marine's Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Ave, Ocean View, DE 19970; or flowers would also be appreciated.
