As a young man Doug lived near his mother's parents and helped on the farm growing a lot of tobacco and other food crops. At the age of 15 he was driving a school bus. Raymond passed away from cancer on Mar. 15, 1999. Doug retired early due to an arthritis disability to care for Ray, which he did for 10 years. Doug volunteered with Hospice Sussex County for over 10 years. He was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church in Rehoboth Beach and received loving care of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach. The past two years Doug spent time enjoying his BMW four wheel scooter around Rehoboth Beach. His scooter meant he was able to get out and enjoy the boardwalk and take in the view of the ocean. Doug is survived by two sisters, Donna Nettles and Sue Parker; two brothers, Jimmy Jones and Freddie Jones of N.C.; Gil Thompson, friend and partner; Gils children, Mark and Marlene and many friends in Rehoboth Beach.
