MILLSBORO, DE - Henry Ellis Miller went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, DE.
Henry was born on April 28, 1961 to the late Francina and Henry Hilliard at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes DE. His loving family includes sisters, Dorothy Vann and Janet Miller; as well as brothers, Leroy Miller, Bernard (Allyson) Miller and Michael Hilliard. Henry was preceded in death by both of his parents; as well as, his brother Johnny Lee, Jr. Henry graduated from Cape Henlopen in 1979 and then on August 11, 1990 he married Teresa R. Brittingham in Milton, DE.
Henry was a very social person and was loved by everyone that he came across. His passions in life were God, family and music. He almost always had a song in his heart. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Holy church in Milton, DE for most of his life and was a dedicated participant in almost every choir he was eligible for, including Voices For Christ, The Batten Ensemble, Mt. Zion Mass Choir, The Sons of Zion, The Mt. Zion Radio Broadcast Choir and the Mid-Atlantic District Choir. Whether through his voice or on his bass guitar, he was always ready to contribute, in his own way, to help spread the word of God.
Henry was famously known for his vocal performances and could often be heard singing his custom rendition "My Soul Has Been Anchored in The Lord" by Douglas Miller (And not that Douglas' version wasn't good, but I think we'd all prefer Henry's version).
Henry was always adamant about making sure his family had everything they needed. He worked many years as a supervisor for Perdue and later as a driver. He still found time to support his wife and children in all of their endeavors.
Henry is survived by his wife, Teresa Miller; as well as his three sons, Stephen Miller (Ariah) of Milford, DE, Stefan Miller (Jilleigh) of Laurel, DE and Jayson Miller of Millsboro, DE. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Ryleigh, Olivia and Titus; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and in-laws.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 12 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Mt. Zion Holy Church, 308 Front St., Milton, DE 19968. A Public Viewing will be held 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Intermit will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton, DE.
