It is with much sadness that the family of Helen W. Hart announces her unexpected passing at home on November 21, 2021.
Mom was a hairdresser for sixty years and still enjoyed getting up and going to work every day. She began her career as a beautician at The Powder Puff in Camden and then at The Unique Beauty Shop in Rodney Village. Next, Mom worked for Vincent and Julian on South Governor's Avenue for many years. After the shop closed, she relocated at The New Image in Woodside for a few years before it closed. Finally, Mom found a new home at The Fairview Avenue Shoppe in Dover, where she has been employed for several years now.
Mom was always a hard worker. She loved working in her yard, tending to her many flower beds. When it wasn't gardening season, Mom would spend her free time putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing word searches, sewing and watching cooking shows. For many years, we were lucky enough to spend time in Ocean City for family summer vacations.
Mom is survived by, and will be very deeply missed by her daughter, Linda Hart Short and son-in-law Clifford Short of Greenwood and her son, William Hart of Felton. She was predeceased by our brother, Glenn Hart, in 1989 and her former husband, our dad, Willard G. "Bill" Hart in 2019.
Mom is also survived by her granddaughter, Heather Tazewell and her family of Exmore, Virginia. She leaves three very dear friends: Shirley Wood and Maryann Simmons, both of Dover and Liz Birch of Camden and her beloved cat, Princess.
A memorial service will be held at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware on December 4, 2021, at 2 p.m., where there will be a gathering prior from 1-2 p.m.
The family requests no flowers, but donations can be made in Mom's name to First State Animal Shelter, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, Delaware 19934.
Our mom was truly a strong, unique individual of whom we are very proud. She had great fashion sense and always had her hair and makeup done just right. She would offer her honest opinion whether it was asked for or not. She definitely had her own ideas about things and would not hesitate to share these thoughts with us. She liked to keep things simple and to the point.
She always did so much for us her entire life. She is definitely one of a kind and will be missed more than words can express. Our world will not be the same without her.
Mom, we love you and miss you so very much, but know we have one more special angel to help watch over us. Until we see you again…to the world you are one person, but to us, you are the world.
