Helen Elizabeth Channels

Helen Elizabeth Channels, 74 HENDERSON, Md. -Helen Elizabeth Channels, of Henderson, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at home. She was born on Sept. 5, 1935, in Erwin, Tenn., to the late Horace and Etta Beam Cooper. Mrs. Channels moved to the area in 1986 coming from Glen Burnie. She and her husband Cecil owned and operated the Henderson Country Store for many years. She was attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union of Henderson. She was an avid bingo and slots player and enjoyed spending time in Myrtle Beach. She is survived by her husband of more than 23 years, Cecil C. Channels; one son, John Tallent Jr.; and one daughter, Donna Ann Tallent, both of Hurlock; two stepsons, Douglas Channels of Linthicum and Brad Channels of Brooklyn Park; one sister, Mae Collier of South Carolina; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and two family friends, Rae Vernon of Marydel, and Robbie Walls of Henderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Odom; and her sister, Joyce Brown. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday evening, Jan. 18, at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, where services will follow at 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
