Helen Clough
Helen Clough departed this life to be with the Lord in her heavenly home on Friday, December 10, 2021. Helen Elizabeth Clough, daughter of the late William and Agatha Brown, was born on November 24, 1933, in Goldsboro, Maryland.
She graduated from Sudlersville High School and was active in all sports. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and has been a member of Calvary Church for forty years. She avidly watched Jimmy Swaggart's ministry and read her Bible until it fell apart at the seams. She worked at Playtex and then for Capital School District, using her passion for creativity to teach children as a paraprofessional. Literacy was always very important to her, and she tutored adults through the Mark Adult Reading Program. In recent years, she enjoyed meeting her friends for lunch, shopping for new outfits at Boscovs, and getting her hair and nails done. She never left the house without being dressed to the nines. Her stylish outfits, jewelry, and heels were always a topic of conversation amongst friends and family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Paul Brownie Clough; her sisters, Ruth Wright, and Louise Brown; and her five brothers, Courtland, William, Walter, George, and Edward Brown.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Coulby and husband, Paul of New Castle, Delaware; her only child, Vicki, and husband, Bruce Dempsey of Dover, Delaware; her grandchildren, Blake Dempsey and wife, Sarah of Dover, Delaware, Brittany Newman and husband, Blair, of Dover, Delaware; and great grandchildren, Kaylin, Austin, Luke, and Lia.
The viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service immediately to follow on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (RT-10), Dover, Del. The burial service will be private.
Masks will be required.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Calvary Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Del.
