Hazel Workman Weist

MILFORD - Hazel Workman Weist, of Milford, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 94. Hazel was born on Aug. 26, 1916, in Frankford, daughter of the late John and Lydia (Hudson) McGee. She had worked in several sewing factories many years ago, and also at I.L.C. in Frederica where she did sewing on the spacesuits supplied to NASA. Hazel's hobbies included working in her yard where she would tend to her flowers, crocheting, doing needlepoint, sewing and making her own clothes. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands, Preston Workman in 1954, and John Weist in 1984; two sons, Fred and Beverly Workman; and a sister, Hester Townsend. Hazel is survived by a son, Raymond Workman of Lewes; three daughters, Elizabeth Payton of Felton, Virginia Roop of Milford, and Hester Farrell of Frederica; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
