Hazel Martha Louise (Parker) Calvert, 97
SMYRNA - Hazel Martha Louise (Parker) Calvert of Smyrna passed away peacefully on her 97th birthday, Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, in Broadmeadow Health Care, Middletown.
Born Feb. 18, 1910, in Pawtucket, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Agnes (Kraigenow) Parker.
Mrs. Calvert was a graduate of Tolman High School.
She resided in Pawtucket for 90 years.
She was a church organist. She was a pianist and as a homemaker and enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, tailoring, millinery and all types of needlework such as tatting, embroidery, lace work, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint.
In 2000, she moved to Smyrna to be closer to her family.
She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Calvert Jr. in 1990; and a son, David Parker Calvert in 1993.
Mrs. Calvert is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Carole and Jim Lee of Smyrna; a son, Robert Calvert of Palm Springs, Calif.; and grandchildren, Stephen and Susan Lee of Dover, Suzanne and Thomas Chafin of Lincoln, Christopher and Colleen Calvert and Matthew Calvert, all of Phoenix, Ariz.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Mark Sullivan will officiate.
Burial will be held privately in Swan Point Cemetery, in Providence, R.I., today.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Calvert's memory to the Hazel Calvert Music Fund of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
