Hazel Emily (Hopkins) Christopher, 101
PRESTON, Md. - Hazel Emily (Hopkins) Christopher of Preston passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at Caroline Home for Hospice, Denton. She was 101.
Mrs. Christopher was born June 10, 1906, in Caroline County, daughter of the late Phillip and Sadie E. (Williamson) Hopkins. Her husband, William Earl Christopher, preceded her in death in 1972.
She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking and making cakes for many people, and she would visit shut-ins and nursing home residents.
Mrs. Christopher attended Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and helped with vacation Bible school for many years.
She is survived by six children, Phillip Christopher of Old Saybrook, Conn., Erma Boyles of Preston, Peggy Townsend of Northampton, Pa., Edna "Bootsie" Hart of Preston, Donald Christopher of Cambridge, and Rose Wheaton of Seaford, Del.; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Roxie Crow of Tilghman; a brother, Irvin Hopkins of Harrington, Del.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six children, Harold Christopher, Roger Christopher, Goldie Christopher, William Christopher Jr., Paul Christopher and Ronald Christopher.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Framptom Funeral Home, Federalsburg, with the Rev. Glenn Staehli officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery, Preston.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.
