Upon graduation, he returned to Dover, and began teaching music at Wesley College. In 1963, he became employed by B&B Music, which began his life's work and passion, along with continuing his love for playing "gigs" with the local big bands. His career as the owner of B&B Music touched the entire community on the Delmarva Peninsula from school-aged children to adult musicians for over 55 years until his retirement. During his tenure, he was nationally recognized and served on the board of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). Harry also enjoyed many years of hunting and golfing, and was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and his church.
