UPLAND, Pa. - Harry L. Kirby, a lifelong resident of Upland, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, in Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland. He was 82.
Mr. Kirby was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He worked in the maintenance department of Crozer Chester Medical Center, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Kirby was a member of American Legion Post 926, Aston; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6613, Lenni; Upland Senior Citizens; and a lifetime member of Upland Fire Co.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive (Dimples) Kirby; his parents, Sara and Joe Doonan; a brother, William Kirby; and three sisters, Eleanor Kirby, Verna Crowley and Jane Zehner.
He is survived by his wife, Grace (O"Connor) Kirby of Glen Mills; a son and a daughter-in-law, H. Joe and Shirley Kirby of Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sara Melhado of Oxford and Melinda and Bryan Jackson of Bowers Beach, Del.; a sister, Mildred Chappell of York; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Bateman Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Friends may also call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Edgwood Memorial Park, Concorville.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.
