Harry F. Tribbitt

BRIDGEVILLE - Harry F. "Butch" Tribbitt died at his home after a long illness on Sunday, April 3, 2016 surrounded by his family and friends. Butch was born on Jan. 16, 1942 in Smyrna, to the late Ralph and Elizabeth Steen Tribbitt. He had worked 23 years for Over Night Transport in Federalsburg, retiring in 2003. Butch was a lifetime member of the Bridgeville VFD, working in the Fire Prevention Program for 16 years, overseeing their annual softball tournament to support burn victims, and he held the office of Fire Police Captain. He never knew a stranger and would help anybody that he could. Butch would love to go fishing with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Tribbitt and Clifton "Babe" Tribbitt. He is survived by his wife Brenda; a son Jeffrey Tribbitt and his wife Kristin of Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Shelley Short, of Greenwood; three grandchildren, RC Short, Alexis Short, and Madilyn Tribbitt; a brother, George Tribbitt and his wife Josephine, of Georgetown; a sister Carole Tribbitt; and extended family. There will be a graveside service on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Bridgeville Cemetery, Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridgeville VFD, PO Box 727, Bridgeville, DE 19933 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are with Fleischauer Funeral Home.
