Harriett J. Williams

SELBYVILLE - Harriett J. Williams passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2016. Harriett, born July 24, 1933, was the daughter of the late Lonnie Ray and Lillie Belle Jennings of Elizabeth City, N.C. Harriett was a homemaker while her children were young and later enjoyed working at Seashell City for 36 years before retiring in 2013 at the age of 80. She enjoyed spending time with her extended Williams family especially at the beach and other family functions. In addition to her parents, Harriett was predeceased by husband, Kenneth W. Roughton, Sr., in 1959; and her husband, John J. Williams, in 1992. Her daughter, Kathryn Townsend, also predeceased her in 2013. Harriett was also predeceased by her brother, Lonnie Ray Jennings. She is survived by her brother, George Jennings; sons, Kenneth W. Roughton, Jr., of Selbyville and Eric J. Williams, of Fenwick Island; and her daughters, Jan R. Turner, of Wilmington, N.C. and Debby R. Flood (Gary), of Laurel; her grandchildren, Emma and Hilary Roughton, Bethany and Davison Turner, Heather Ruark (Todd), Ashley, Erica, Phillip (Tara) and Perry Townsend; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Landon, Lauren, Jaelyn, Lance and Ellie.
