Harold R. Adams, 73

KENTON - Harold R. Adams, of Kenton, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Christiana Medical Center in Newark. He was 73. Harold was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Clayton. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Wayne Revel; brothers, Jimmy Darrel, Roy Jewell, and Walter Darrell; and sisters, Mary Durham, Mable Dill, Audrey Slover and Norma Minner. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elaine Stauffer Adams; daughters, Donna Revel, Robyne Miller, daughter and son-in-law Gwen and Tim Gomeringer, all of Kenton; and one son, Ritchie Adams of Newark. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Jamie, Russell, Matthew, Melissa, Billy, Andy and Rachael and was expecting his first great-grandchild in August. He was also survived by his two brothers, Eddie and Bobby Jewell. We would also like to include everyone else who considered him as uncle, pop-pop and pop. He served in the U.S. Army until 1957. He was a carpenter in Union 626. He also owned and operated Adams Gun Shop for over 10 years. He was a member of The Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing cards with friends. He belonged to the Silver Lake Fishing club as well. He loved to fish, hunt, crab and work with race horses. He also enjoyed racing stock cars on dirt tracks in his younger years. He was a big NASCAR fan too. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Faries Funeral Home, 29 South Main St., Smyrna. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover. In lieu of flowers, Harold would have wanted contributions to Kenton Child Care Center 1298 McKee Rd., Dover, DE 19904. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
