BRIDGEVILLE - H. George Phillips, of Bridgeville, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, in his home. He was 59. He was born in Milford, the son of the late George Russell and Evelyn (Kemp) Phillips. He was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed working with his hands as both a carpenter and a mechanic. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol J. Phillips; a son, George R. Phillips, of Milford; two daughters, Sandra M. Smith of Greenwood and Connie S. Willey and her husband Mike of Ellendale; three brothers, Tom Phillips, Lonnie Phillips and Doug Phillips, all of Lincoln; four sisters, Phyllis Clayville, of Lincoln, Ruth Ann Jester and her husband Bob of Milford, Laura Phillips of Bridgeville and Martha Popwell, of Purvis, MS; six granddaughters and a grandson, 14 nephews and cousins Services will be 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Route 16, Greenwood. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made c/o Carol Phillips, 16672 Cedar Corner Road, Bridgeville, DE 19933 to help defray funeral expenses.
