Guy Eugene Lindsay, 84 FELTON - Guy Eugene Lindsay, of Felton, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 84. He was born in Port Treverton, Pa., son of the late Charles and Laura Lindsay. Mr. Lindsay was drafted into the U.S. Army his senior year of high school. He fought in the Philippines, Okinawa and other parts of the Pacific. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a bronze star, Okinawa Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal. After the service, Mr. Lindsay worked for the state of Pennsylvania blasting mountains to make room for roads. Mr. Lindsay then worked as a life insurance salesman for several years. Eventually, he went to work for the Patuxent River Naval Base in the commissary as a meat cutter for 15 years. In 1983, he moved to Delaware, where he was a part owner and operator of a chicken farm in Greenwood. In 1989, he retired and moved back to Pennsylvania to help his wife take care of her parents. With failing health, he and his wife returned to Delaware to be near their daughter. Upon his return to Pennsylvania and Delaware, Mr. Lindsay enjoyed making wood crafts and selling them to the public. He also enjoyed gardening and tending his many bird feeders and birdbaths, sitting on his front porch watching the traffic or on his back porch watching the trains, birds, deer and other wildlife. Mr. Lindsay was a member of the Milford Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lindsay; and sisters, Ethel Newton and Pauline Breach. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Lindsay; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie D. and Thomas E. Melvin of Harrington; brothers, Charles Lindsay of Selingsgrove, Pa., and Floyd Lindsay of Montoursville, Pa.; his grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy G. and Bruce Williamson, Crystal L. and Mark Johnson, and C. Eugene and Summer Melvin; and his great grandchildren, Carson T. Williamson and Devynn C. Melvin. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Milford Church of the Nazarene, where a visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Arrangements by Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
