MILFORD - Grover N. Ashton died Wed., July 3, 2013 at the Milford Center, Milford. Mr. Ashton was born in Wilmington, Del. the son of the late Grover C. and Anna E. (Wallace) Ashton. Mr. Ashton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WW II. Grover and his late wife Orpha W. Ashton operated Millsboro Pharmacy, which they owned and operated from 1961 until 1971. They then opened Barbara Gayle Hallmark Gallery, operating in Georgetown from 1971 to 1974. Mr. Ashton worked in the Pharmacy at Milford Memorial Hospital retiring in 1987. He was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church, the Delaware Pharmaceutical Society and the Milford V.F.W. Blue Hen Post # 6483. In his spare time, Mr. Ashton enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed going to watch the L.P.G.A. when it was held in Wilmington and going to see the Philadelphia Eagles as well as the Naval Acadamy football games. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Orpha Webb Ashton in 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Gayle Alexander of Shepherdstown, W. Va.; a son, Stephen G. Ashton, of Maui, Hawaii; and a granddaughter, Bethany Leigh Alexander, of Shepherdstown, W. Va. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 12, 2013 at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 North Church Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church Street, Milford, DE 19963. Arr. by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, Del.
