Grace A. Thompson

MIDDLETOWN - Grace A. Thompson, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at Broad Meadow in Middletown. She was born in Seaford, to the late Charles C. and Mary (Watson) Fleetwood. She worked as a Real Estate Broker and Manager for Heritage Realty in Wilmington. Grace was a member of the Village Improvement Association in Rehoboth, Grace UM Church, and Sussex Pines Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf, horseback riding, and teaching bridge, both at the country club and Adult Plus. In her 20's she modelled for the Stetson Hat Company in Philadelphia, Pa., as well as L.D. Caulk in Milford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Thompson. She is survived by her children, Mary Gutierrez, of Bridgeville and Charles L. Andrews, of Townsend; sister, Catherine Vickery, of Lewes; and grandchildren, Gillian and Tara Andrews, and David and Charles Neilson; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace's memory can be made to: American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693-5120.
