Gordon Vincent 'Chip' Savage

CLAYTON - Gordon Vincent "Chip" Savage, of Clayton, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at home. He was 43. Chip was born Jan. 21, 1966, in Yeadon, Pa., the son of the late Reese Irvin and Mary B. Savage. Chip worked as a HVAC Technician for Modern Controls of New Castle. He was a very smart person and was gifted mechanically. He was a member of the local 74 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Chip was also a member of the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14 in Smyrna, Delaware, as well as the Smyrna/Clayton Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycles, and was a hot rod enthusiast. Chip possessed a strong faith in God which showed in his daily life. He was a good hearted man. He was also a man of humor and was usually the life of the party at family gatherings. Chip was very proud of his son, Vincent and his entrance and service in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his son, Vincent Lee Savage of Smyrna; a grandson, Daniel Lee Savage of Smyrna; a sister, Michelle Brame and her husband Gary of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two nieces, Meagan and Brittany; a nephew, Gary; other family members, Dave and Melissa Lawlor, Johnny and Rita Smiley and their two daughters; Uncle Chuck Skinner and his wife Nancy; Allen Savage; several extended family members; and his former wife and high school sweet heart, Cathy Croteau, and her mother Nancy Widdows. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 25, in the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park in Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to defray funeral expenses. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street, Smyrna.
