DOVER - Glendon "Glen" Michael Sammons, Sr. of Dover passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Kent General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 64. Mr. Sammons was born January 20, 1950 in Dover, to the late Perry W. Sammons, Sr. and Sarah E. Ridgway. He worked for Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna for 31 years as custodial supervisor retiring in 2002. He had also worked for State Cleaning and Maintenance for ten years. Mr. Sammons enjoyed doing plastic canvas crafts, making family and friends picture frames and Christmas gifts. He also enjoyed baseball, line dancing, and bowling on the leagues, but mostly he loved his family time. Mr. Sammons was a member of Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, Cheswold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Millie Sammons; sister, Carolyn Carney; brother, Perry Sammons, Jr.; and niece, Kimberly Sammons. He is survived by his wife of three and a half years, Deborah King Sammons of Dover; sons, Jeff Dennison and his wife Deanna of Magnolia, Glendon M. Sammons, Jr. of Dover, William Sammons of Dover; daughters, Mazie Kramer and her husband Todd of Dover, Jennifer Tuxward and her husband Tom of Marydel and Sarah Ann Sammons of Dover; sisters, Betty M. Seeney and her husband Joey of Dover, Carmella Stanton and her husband Wayne of Clayton; grandchildren, Jason and his wife Shondia, Kaylinn, Will, Amanda, Paige K., Paige D., Lisa and Samantha; great grandchildren, Ayla, Jeremiah, Blair; godchildren, Shana and Brittney; aunts, Verna Durham, Edith Ridgway; and uncle, Ulysses Sammons; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 6 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, 756 Main Street, Cheswold. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the church.
