Glen Virgil Murphy

Glen Virgil Murphy went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at Lofland Life Care in Seaford.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1942 in Reliance, the son of the late Virgil Murphy and Hazel Collins Murphy.
Glen graduated from Seaford High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he began working at E.I. DuPont in Seaford for thirty-two years. Upon retiring he owned and operated a chicken farm for nineteen years. He was a member of Christ Evangelistic Church and the Veterans Association. If you were to ask Glen what his greatest pleasure and accomplishment was, he would say, "His Family."
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Norma Lee Travers Murphy, whom he married on Dec. 30, 1961; five children, John Murphy (Barbara), Robin Hurley, Dale Murphy (Shannon), Wade Murphy, Seth Murphy (Julie); 11 grandchildren, Jamey Murphy, Jeremy Murphy, Amber Cohee, Kyle Hurley, Todd Hurley, Dylan Murphy, Taylor Murphy, MacKenzie Murphy, Ethan Murphy, Alyssa Murphy, Matthew Murphy; a step-granddaughter, Kristie Hurley; five great-grandchildren, Colby Murphy, Brady Chaffinch, Carleigh Cohee, Tatum Wood, Ellie Hurley; a daughter-in-law, Joy Murphy; two sisters, Carol Hitchens and her husband, Eddie, Barbara Melvin and her husband, Wayne. Glen was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Michelle Murphy.
Funeral services will be held on at Christ Evangelistic Church at 9802 Camp Road, Laurel on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Roland Tice and Pastor Jay Revel officiating. Visitation will he be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Bridgeville Cemetery. Arrangements by Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg.
