Gladys S. Wright

MILFORD - Gladys S. Wright, of Milford, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 85. Gladys was born on May 18, 1926, in Mt. Morris, Mich., daughter of the late Charles J. and Claire R. (Ennis) Mader. She was employed for several years as a secretary with General Motors Institution, where she met her husband, Joe. After their marriage, Gladys became a full time homemaker and mother. Mrs. Wright was a long time resident of Milford. She enjoyed many years, along with her husband and square dancing partner, as a member of the Diamond State Twirlers. They also loved time spent together traveling and camping. Gladys had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Her generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to her family. She lived her life with integrity and kindness. Gladys was a member of the Milford Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Wright, founder of Wright's NAPA Auto Parts in Milford, in 1998. She is survived by her son, Curtis Wright and his wife Vera of Milton; her daughter, Debbie Dixon and her husband Dennis of Felton; a sister, Mary Ferrier and her husband Bill of Fenton, Michigan; a granddaughter, Amy Opalinski and her husband Adam; two great-grandchildren, Kaia Opalinski and Addison Opalinski; and three nephews, Billy Ferrier, Adam Ferrier and Gary Ferrier. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or to The Alzheimer's Association, Julie H.C.
