Gilbert 'Gill' Owen Hamilton, 91

CLAYTON - Gilbert "Gill" Owen Hamilton, of Clayton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 91. Gill was born March 20, 1917, in Covington, Ky., the son of the late Lon Hamilton and Shirley Dickerson Hamilton. He worked as an auto mechanic for several years before retiring. Gill was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 652 in Millington, Md., and the American Legion David C. Harrison Post 14 in Smyrna. Gill loved gardening and especially enjoyed growing tomatoes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Johnson Hamilton; a sister, Dorothy Myers of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-sons, Albert "Buck" Krupka of Clayton and William "Bill" Krupka and his wife Joy, also of Clayton; five grandchildren, Tony, Dean, Sherrie, Justin and Jessie Krupka; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Ron Wuest on Tuesday at noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Delaware Hospice and to family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19904. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main St., Smyrna. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
