Geraldine Marie Smith, 68 FELTON - Geraldine Marie Smith, 68, of Felton, died on Dec. 4, 2009, of complications from a recent surgery. Geraldine managed and worked in the family owned business, Guns & Goodies of Dover, for many years before its closing. In more recent years she worked at Lou's Groceries before its closing, Byler's Country Store and Delaware Auto Exchange until the time of her death. She enjoyed her many pets, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. Gerri was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert A. Smith; her father, Everell Clapper; and mother, Julia Twiss Clapper. She is survived by her son, Scott A. Smith; daughters, Sandra D. de Bloois, and Paula A. Smith; and her grandchildren, Aylish Walton, Nolah Walton, Arielle de Bloois and Annemieke de Bloois. She is also survived by her siblings, Myrna Monser of New York, Joseph Clapper of West Virginia, and Stephen Clapper of Texas. Memorial services will be 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where friends may call at 5 p.m. She will later be interred with her husband Robert in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sussex County, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that charitable donations be made to The American Cancer Society, Kent County SPCA or The National Down Syndrome Society.
