LAUREL - George Washington Williams Jr., of Laurel, departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in Wilmington, after a long battle with cancer. He was 46.
Born on April 2, 1961, he was the son of the late George W. Williams Sr. and the late Estella Wright.
"Junnie," as he was known to family and friends, attended Woodbridge Junior/Senior High School, where he graduated in 1979 as All-State Cross Country champion.
He also attended Sussex Vo-Tech where he graduated as a certified chef.
Junnie was a jack of all trades when it came to work.
He worked as a maintenance man, mechanic, landscaper and construction worker.
Junnie enjoyed cooking, cleaning, working and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Cathy Williams; and several aunts and uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memories four daughters, Tykeisha Mann of Seaford, Kimberly Rayne of Laurel, LaSondra Rayne of Seaford, and Kathy Gray of Laurel; one son, George Gray of Bridgeville; his fiancé and caregiver Pat Fitchette and her children and grandchildren, Keyondra, Victoria, Jonathan and Malik, all of Wilmington; six sisters, Georgeanna Wright and her husband Will of Wilmington, Ida Williams of Milford, Loretta Teagle of Hurlock, Md., Lucille Cannon of Norfolk, Va., Ginger Williams of Augusta, Ga., and Helena Wright of Bridgeville; six brothers, Joseph Williams, Robert Williams, Eddie Smith, Eric Wright, Gean Smith and Jesse Wright, all of Bridgeville; four grandchildren, Tyona and Ty'Kia Massado of Laurel, Anikqua and De'Andre Rayne of Seaford; a special friend, Rosemary Spence of Wilmington, who also helped care for him; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 437 N. Front St., Seaford.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Williams Chapel Church, Bridgeville, where friends may also call from 9-11:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Middleford Cemetery, Seaford.
