MAGNOLIA - George R. Walton, Jr. passed away peacefully on Aug. 21, 2017. George was born on Sept. 10, 1937 in Smyrna.
He was predeceased by his parents, George R. Walton, Sr. and Edna Virginia Stevens. George is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rebecca Marie Marker; his four children, Mark (Linda), George (Celene), Ron, and Sue and Mike; and his grandchildren, Chris and Jill, Megan and Russ, Katie, Josh, and Shannon; and his siblings, Doris, Bruce (Pat), Jack (Mary), and Fred (Pam).
George was a proud graduate of the Caesar Rodney High School class of 1955. He served 22 years in the Army and Army National Guard, including a tour in Korea. In his more than 30 years of farming, he worked on Star Farms and later retired from Papen Farms.
In his retirement, among other things he enjoyed cutting grass, going to the dump, his garden, early morning prayer groups and coffee with dear friends.
George will be remembered most for his love of family, dedication to his faith and the church, his ingenuity, and his selfless use of his talents for others. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Grace Church at 350 McKee Road on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017. There will be directions for parking, carpool if possible. Services will begin at 12 p.m. with interment following at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden.
