George R. Prettyman

LINCOLN - George R. Prettyman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at Beebe Medical Center. George was born in Slaughter Neck on Apr. 29, 1927 son of the late Robert C. Prettyman and Mazie (Smith) Prettyman Warrington. He married Jeanette Trevillian on Jul. 5, 1951. They were married 45 years when she passed away in 1996. George and Jeanette had no children. George enjoyed going to auction sales and gardening. George was a member of LIUNA-Local 199 and received his 50-year Gold Card in 2015. He was known as "Smiling Jack" to his union brothers and sisters. In addition to his parents; and his wife; George is preceded in death by brothers, Harvey and Benjamin Prettyman. He is survived by his sister, Rose Gobay, of Milford; close friend, Charles "Butch" Warren and family of Lincoln, with whom he lived until the last few years when he became a resident of Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown. A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation after 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Slaughter Neck Cemetery.
