George H. Thawley, 95
SEAFORD - George H. Thawley of Seaford passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, in the Seaford Center. He was 95.
George once lived near Laurel.
He was born in Denton, Md., son of the late Harvey and Stella Thawley.
George retired from the state of Delaware Highway Department as an equipment operator.
He also worked at Delmar Feed Mill.
George enjoyed carpentry work.
He was a member of God's Missionary Church in Delmar and often attended Cannon Mennonite Church.
He was also a member of the Gideons.
In addition to his parents, three brothers and a sister, he was preceded in death by his wife, Floyd M. Thawley.
George is survived by his sons, the Rev. G. Robert Thawley and his wife Beulah of Salisbury, N.C., and Arthur "Buddy" Thawley and his wife Catherine of Felton; his daughter, Thelma S. Gilster and her husband Reginald of Michigan; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, where friends may call one hour prior.
The Rev. Eric Watts will officiate, assisted by the Rev. William R. Bowen.
