MILLSBORO - George Donald Thrift of Millsboro, formerly of Snow Hill, Md., and Glen Burnie, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at his home. He was 69.

Mr. Thrift was born in Baltimore on Dec. 30, 1937, son of the late George Newbill Thrift and Hilda Delores (Ridgeway) Thrift.

George moved from Glen Burnie to Snow Hill in 1986.

He retired in 1995 from Federal Express.

Before George and his wife moved to Millsboro this past summer, they were fortunate enough to travel across the country in their RV for the last three years.

George was an avid World War II military collector and stamp collector.

He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and playing Texas hold 'em poker.

George was a past Mason and a member of the Mensa Society.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Margaret Mary (Buckley) Thrift; two sons, George Gary Thrift of Phoenix, and James Clayton Thrift of Millersville, Md.; two daughters, Donna Lynn Thrift of Glen Burnie, Md., and Linda Dawn Royal of Bivalve, Md.; a stepson, Adam M. Snyder of Selbyville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of George's life will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Atlantic Sands Hotel, Baltimore and 1st streets, Rehoboth Beach, where a luncheon will follow.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in George's name to Delaware Hospice-Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Millsboro.
