George Clifton Jones, 75
WORTON, Md. - George Clifton Jones, of Worton, died Monday, March 10, 2008, in Chester River Hospital Center. He was 75.
Born March 18, 1932, on a farm in Church Hill, he was the son of the late Robert P. Sr. and Rosabell Hurtt Jones.
Mr. Jones was educated in Church Hill schools.
He married Elizabeth Augusta Rementer of Kennedyville on May 28, 1954.
Mr. Jones served with the National Guard in the U.S. Army in the Alaskan Territory and was honorably discharged on Feb. 8, 1956.
He then returned to Kent County where they continued to reside in Kent and Queen Anne's counties. He worked as a farmer and truck driver for Vita Foods and P&M Trucking in Chestertown. He also drove for Ms. Filbert's Margarine Co.
Mr. Jones retired in 1996 following the death of his son, Danny.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Calvary Chapel Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by three daughters, Mary Charlotte Thompson of Kennedyville, Beverly Ann Jarvis of Seaford, Del., and Deborah Lee Greenly of Ridgley; a son, Charles Aaron Jones of Richland, Miss.; one sister, Sara Prescott of Dover, Del.; one brother, Norman Elmer Jones of Fruitland; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown, where friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery.
