George Clarke Webb Jr., 83

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - George Clarke Webb Jr. of Kissimmee, formerly of Federalsburg, Md., passed peacefully into his new life, with his wife by his side, Friday, July 13, 2007, at the Village of Good Samaritan, Kissimmee. He was 83.

Born in Preston, Md., on Sept. 14, 1923, he was the son of the late Dr. George Clarke and Mary (Ross) Webb.

Clarke graduated from the Federalsburg High School and attended the Goldey Beacon College in Wilmington, Del.

After attending school, he served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked for Eastern Shore Public Service of Federalsburg and for the Delaware Electric Co-Op, Greenwood, Del., from which he retired in 1982.

Clarke lived most of his life in the Frederica-Felton, Del., area, and after retirement enjoyed living in Florida and North Carolina. While in Delaware, he was a member of the Nanticoke Lodge 172 A.F. & A.M., Federalsburg, the Nur Shrine Temple, Wilmington, and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5246, Federalsburg.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cecile Marie Webb of Kissimmee; his twin daughters, Judith W. Stevenson and her husband William of Dover, Del., and Joan W. Paynter and her husband Reed of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; three grandsons, Ross Clarke Paynter of Mesa, Ariz., Matthew Thomas Stevenson of Dover, and Michael James Stevenson of Las Vegas; his adored twin great-grandsons, Cody and Bobby Stevenson; and his beloved lifetime friends, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Davis of Bridgeville, Del., and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wright of Berlin, Md.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Henry Webb of Sharptown, Md.; a sister, Mary Jane (Webb) Parker of Southern Pines, N.C.; and his first grandson, Jason Reed Paynter.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Williamson Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Federalsburg, with the Rev. Blanche Powell officiating. Interment will be in Newville, Pa.
