CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Genevieve M. "Gen" Hunt of Chestertown died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 86.
Born in Westbury, N.Y., on July 8, 1921, Gen was the daughter of the late Louis A Sr. and Theresa K. (Hesse) Deferrari.
She graduated from high school and business school, and then worked at the Bank of Westbury (Long Island Trust), as well as with the family business, Deferrari Liquors.
Gen married the late Wilbur Louis Hunt on July 10, 1951. They resided in Mercerville, N.J., and in 1956 moved to Robbinsville, N.J., where she raised her family. In 1971, her husband retired, and in 1972 they moved to Rock Hall, where they owned and operated Hunt's Marina on Green Lane until 1979, when they moved to Chestertown. While in Rock Hall, she briefly worked with Rock Hall Sewing Factory.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and loved sewing, knitting and crafts.
Gen enjoyed people, whether working at the marina or with her daughter at Happy Run Kennel.
She is survived by a son, Alan L. Hunt of Chestertown; two daughters, Lois A. Hunt of Chestertown and Diane M. Hunt of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Catherine Bennett of Westbury and Veronica Casari of Chesapeake, Va.; and three grandchildren, Joseph Baranowski, Alicia Baranowski and Lauren Hunt, all of Chestertown.
A viewing will be Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
