Garnetta H. 'Mee Maw' Phillips, 86

GEORGETOWN - Garnetta H. "Mee Maw" Phillips, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009. She was 86 She was born on Jan. 15, 1922, in Dagsboro, to the late Francis and Irma West. She was a member of the Joshua House in Gumboro, and the East Sussex Moose Lodge 2542, where she achieved many offices working up through the chairs. Garnetta loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as "Mee Maw" to many. She enjoyed reading poems, crossword puzzles, crocheting, game shows, and watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza . She is preceeded in death by her husband, Earl Woodrow Phillips in 1967; and a son, Paul Stephen Phillips. She is survived by her children, E. Mark Phillips of Georgetown, Thomas A. Phillips and wife Christine of Georgetown, Deborah Long and husband Charles of Georgetown, Mary E. Holston and husband James of Georgetown, Anna R. Miller and husband Kenneth of Georgetown, Delaware; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Services will be held noon Monday at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour before. Pastor Chuck Reynolds will officiate. Friends may also call on Sunday, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Women of the Moose Ritual during the Sunday viewing. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.
