G. Franklin 'Frank' Poore Jr., 61

EARLEVILLE, Md. - G. Franklin "Frank" Poore Jr. of Hacks Point-Earleville, Md., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at Union Hospital in Elkton, Md., after a four-year battle with ALS. He was 61.

Mr. Poore was born on Oct. 29, 1946 in Wilmington son of G. Franklin Sr., and Catherine Husfelt Poore of Hacks Point.

His 39-year career with DuPont, mainly at the Louviers plant, included working in the photographic and print departments before he retired in 2004.

From the age of 12, when he moved to Hacks Point and until his health made it impossible to continue, Frank mowed lawns in the community.

He enjoyed hunting, crabbing, trap shooting and going to Delaware Park with his best friends Jim Shortlidge and John McClain.

Frank also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janice Stienman Poore; three children Shelli Wagner and her husband Dan of Middletown, Del., Michael Poore and his girlfriend Heidi Johnson of Fairlee, Md., and Wendy Parker and her husband Brian of Chesapeake City, Md.; two sisters Linda Connolley and her husband Ed of Galena, Md. and Margaret Kennedy and her husband Joe of Hacks Point, Md.; and five grandchildren Ashley, Emily, and Kaylee Wagner, Colin and Darren Parker.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md.

Friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Cecilton, Md.

Memorials may be offered to A.L.S. Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Rd. Suite 260, Ambler, Pa., 19002-2755.
