Frederick 'Fred' William Aschemeyer, Jr., 65

GREENWOOD - Frederick 'Fred' William Aschemeyer, Jr., died Friday, May 15, 2009, at home. He was born in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Frederick William, Sr. and Hilda Bussey Aschemeyer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver and dispatcher for BWI Corp. retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown. He enjoyed fishing, aviation, science fiction, flying kites and mostly spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and also telling family stories. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annamarie Klipsch and a nephew, Ed Mount. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kris Staples Aschemeyer; two children, Andrea L. Filbert and her husband, Adam of Federalsburg, Md., and Frederick 'Fritz' William Aschemeyer, II of Salisbury, MD.; one brother, Capt. Manfred H.K. Aschemeyer, and his wife, Floy Ann of California; and two grandchildren, Ashley Coats and Kimberly Filbert. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 19th at 12 Noon, at Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd., Georgetown, DE, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton, DE.
