DOVER - Frederick W. "Fred" Feldmann passed away peacefully on April 6, 2015 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del. Fred was born in Ardsley, Pa. and married Jacqueline "Jackie" O'Connor from Abington, Pa. in 1947. After moving to Dover, Fred was employed by Playtex and then ILC, where he made his claim to fame as a design engineer for the Apollo space helmet. Moving to Carbondale, Pa. in 1973 after the decline of the space program, Fred designed air and water safety devices for Gentex Corporation. Having had enough of the snow and ice, Jackie and Fred moved to Fort Myers in 1975 where he opened up a Milex Tune-up franchise and then became a successful commercial real estate broker. After retiring, Fred became an accomplished artist, showing and winning awards for his paintings. He also spent countless hours solving Sudoku puzzles. Fred moved back to Dover in 2013, after Jackie passed away, to be closer to his family. Fred is predeceased by his wife Jacqueline of 65 years. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Maida (Martin) of Livingston, N.J. and Debra Abbott (Steven) of Dover, Del. Fred is also survived by his three granddaughters and five great-grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday April 25, 2015 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Del. 19934 where family and friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702-B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805 or to the Dover Art League, 21 W.
