Franklin E. Ruff, 85

WHALEYVILLE, Md. - Franklin E. Ruff, of Whaleyville, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Atlantic General, Berlin. He was 85. He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Baltimore, to the late George F. and Goldie Shearer Ruff. Prior to moving to Goldsboro in 1973, Mr. Ruff lived in Glen Burnie. Mr. Ruff is a retired grocery store owner. He is survived by his two nieces, Marlene Ditmar of Lake Wales, Fla., and Joyce Phillips of Whaleyville; great-nephew, Rick Norfolk of East New Market; and great-niece, Kim Smith of Salisbury. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Robert Messmer. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, where viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn. Committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Letters of condolence may be sent via www.fleegleandhelfenbein.com.
